Gately Academy
Our mission is to provide a safe and enriching academic and social environment where students with learning differences can explore their role in the world as learners and members of the community.
Gately Academy is a private school located in Portland, Oregon. Gately provides a highly creative and focused school setting for students with attention deficit disorders, autism, asperger's syndrome and other learning disabilities. By maintaining small class sizes and utilizing multisensory learning strategies, Gately provides a rich cooperative learning environment. Students learn strategies and skills that increase their academic performance, learning to organize, focus and communicate more effectively. Literacy is a central component to each one of our subject areas at Gately Academy. Consequently, students gain confidence as learners and flourish in a community of supportive teachers and peers.
Gately’s supportive and creative academic environment allows students to learn, explore and interact. Our Social Thinking class helps students develop a more aware sense of themselves and of others. Small class sizes (one teacher per nine students) allow individualized assistance and the ability to tailor lessons to build on the strengths and creative interests of each student. Thus, in the course of daily lessons, students develop effective strategies that help them become successful learners.
