Volunteer Opportunities
Gately Academy offers a variety of volunteer options, categorized into specific event-related opportunities for families to participate in. We know that special events, fundraising, field trips and charity work wouldn’t be possible without the help of our committed parents and families. Gately Academy requires 30 hours of volunteer time per family, each school year. Listed below are a few of the ways volunteers like to get involved. Contact Gately Academy for more information about current volunteer opportunities.
- Library Committee: Have a passion for books? Know how and where to organize them? Got a clean record on your library card? Gately is in need of two parents (hopefully of 5th or 6th graders) to commit to the Gately Library Committee. Please email Dave Ball if you are interested.
- Festival of Trees Committee: Work collaboratively to organize decorations and donations to fund a Grand Gately Tree at the annual Festival of Trees sponsored by Providence Portland Medical Center each December.
- Gately Art Festival Committee: Volunteers are needed to help organize and plan the annual Art Festival happening each February. Duties include helping to seek out artists to come and share with the students about their craft as well as help to support a silent auction to raise money for the Gately art program
- Bulletin Board Volunteer oversee the maintenance and design of the Gately Academy bulletin board (in the entry of the school). Update information and calendar as needed.
- Open House Hosts attend, greet and welcome new visitors and families once each trimester at Gately Open Houses (6:30-8:00).
- Pizza Friday Volunteers organize and facilitate the Pizza Friday lunch event at Gately. Pickup of pizza off-site, set-up and clean-up at school, and (the most fun!), distribute pizza to hungry students. All proceeds benefit the Student Council.
- Gately Pride: Organize purchasing, ordering and distribution of Gately Sweatshirts/memorabilia for school pride.
- Office Assistants help provide support to Gately's Office Manager by answering phones, special event preparation and oragnizing school mailings.
- "Stuffed With Love" Committee: Organize and coordinate drop-off times of donated stuffed animals and artwork to various charities that benefit children and families in the Portland metropolitan area, such as the Ronald McDonald House, Shepherd's Door, Albertina Kerr and others.
- Hospitality Committee members greet and welcome new Gately families. The Hospitality Committee also helps provide staff meals during conferences and Staff Appreciation Week.
- Recognition Days Committee: Organize Staff Appreciation Week each spring.
